The Bell pepper story
Peppers are native to Mexico, Central America, and northern South America.
Bell peppers are high in vitamin C and help your body absorb iron. They also have large amounts of carotenoids, an antioxidant. Red, orange and yellow peppers are actually very ripe green peppers. Bell peppers sweeten as they ripen, so red bell peppers are sweeter than green.
Interesting fact:
These colourful peppers which are loaded vir vitamin C, and antioxidant has been shown to help boost cognitive function and promote helpful neurotransmitters. Vitamin C can actually fight off depression and anxiety.

The tomato Story
The wild species originated in the Andes mountains of South America, probably mainly in Peru and Ecuador.
Is tomato a fruit of vegetable?
The age-old question actually has an answer – it’s both! Tomatoes are fruits that are considered vegetables by nutritionists.
Botanically, a fruit is a ripened flower ovary and contains seeds.
Interesting fact:
The French called the tomato the Somme d’amour, or the love apple, for their belief that the exotic tomato had aphrodisiac powers. Tomatoes might not be responsible for romance in people, but eating tomatoes does seem to spark a lust for more tomatoes.

The aubergine story
The team found that the group containing the relatives of the aubergine originated in northeastern Africa some two million years ago.
The word aubergine comes from the Catalan word alberginia, which came from the Arabic al-badhijan and the Persian word badinage before that.
Though in South Africa the aubergine is called a brinjal/eggplant. South Africa’s weather is ideal for growing Eggplants and it can be grown perennial. Eggplants are native to warm regions and need consistent warmth to set fruit.

The Jalapeño Pepper story
The jalapeño is a medium-sized chili pepper pod type cultivar of the species Capsicum annuum. A mature jalapeño chili is 5-19cm long and hangs down and round.
The heat varies, depending on the chili variety, weather and growing conditions, but in general, jalapeños are significantly hotter than green chillis.
